"Ash, Iron, and Blood" (Tricube Tales One-Page RPG)
Enter a world of ancient ruins and powerful traditions, where the strength of iron meets the fragility of ashes and the power of blood.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, and part of the reason is due to the fact that I’ve been trying to get a monkey off my back for several months now. In late 2022 I started working on an Ironsworn-inspired Tricube Tales game, but I found the going tough. I absolutely love the Ironsworn game, but found capturing the vibe of Shawn Tomkin’s setting to be pretty elusive. However, this week it all came together and I managed to publish “Ash, Iron, and Blood.”
I’m pretty proud of it. I think it captures the spirit of Ironsworn, while keeping the setting malleable enough for you to take things in a different direction (e.g. Skyrim) if you so choose. Ironsworn has lots going for it, but its 30+ moves have often left me wanting a rules-lite alternative that would allow my games to run faster and smoother. I’m excited to test “Ash, Iron, and Blood” out with the Tricube Tales solo rules.
Here’s the product description:
"These lands have forged us into a people of ash, iron, and blood. The ashes of long-dead civilizations that litter the landscape speak to the impermanence of all things. Our iron weapons and tools symbolize the strength and resiliency of our people. And blood, shed in battle or ritual sacrifice, is a constant reminder of the price that must be paid for power and glory in these lands. Fate has chosen you to serve as wardens, the sworn protectors of our people and traditions. Your sacred vows bind you to your duty, driving you ever forward even in the face of overwhelming odds."
